My Pond Habitat - a poem written by W to go with pond diorama project

My pond is smaller than a lake.
You might even find a cotton mouth snake.

The sun can make it warm, the cold can make it freeze.
You see my pond is not very deep.

You can hear frogs jump along the lilies.
There are minnows and tadpoles under the algae.

In my pond there are rooted plants.
On the shore LOOK OUT FOR ANTS!

Dragonflies, mosquitoes and butterflies too
Fly above the water that is NOT blue.

Beneath the pond skin is a bass and a catfish
They are the blue heron’s dinner wish.

Shrimp I think I’ll love to eat
On a log a beaver chopped with his teeth.

Come to my pond and you will see
An exciting habitat enjoyed by me.
